Occ Summary
Provide physical therapy services to patients/cl ients who haveimpairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or chan ges inphysical function and health status resulting from injury, disease , orother causes; provide prevention and wellness services, includingscr eenings and health promotion. The senior serves as a resource personfor the team and the department: participates in orientation of newstaff the rapists, physicians and other health personnel. The seniorparticipates i n teaching activities for physical therapy and otherhealth related stude nts. The physical therapist works within practiceguidelines as defined b y North Carolina state law.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level: See Departmental criteriafor each duty listed, and Departmental criteria for clinical ladder.Physical Therapis tDemonstrate & articulate sound clinical reasoning in synthesizingcomple x evaluation data identifying diagnosis and developing acomprehensive plan of care.Develop and update appropriate plan of care in collaboration with thepatient/family and related to the person's age and lifestyle wi thmeasurable long and short term goals and a defined D/C planUnderstand the role of physical therapy in the context of the patient'sage, total n eeds perspective and environmentPerform age appropriate competency skill s in area of practice and withrespect to individual patient's problems.F ollow intervention protocols and alter plan of care appropriately.Discha rge patient when goals have been met or medical necessity is nolonger wa rrants intervention.Establish provisions for continuing services/follow up as needed.Meet competency skills for evaluations in area of practice. Consistently meet patient care productivity standard as established forj ob classification.Work cooperatively with supervisors and peers to contr ibute to theoverall productivity of the team.Utilize support personnel ( aides, sr aides, assistants) as appropriateand available.Actively suppor t and participate in patient coverage efforts across alldivisions within the department as necessary.Assess the learning needs and capabilities of patients and caregivers.Initiate patient and family education in a ti mely manner relative toage, LOS, readiness to learn, and emotional statu s.Utilize appropriate methods and materials for effective learning,monit oring response to education, and adapting program appropriately.Ensure t hat patient/family understands when and how to access furtherinterventio n.Patient care documentation is timely, legible, and efficient.Documenta tion is concise, pertinent and meets the professions anddepartments docu mentation standards.Oral reporting is clear, concise, relevant, and time ly.Perform all required data collection for the department accurately an dwithin expected time frame.Peer review standards are consistently met.P rovide clinical education experiences for students as requested bysuperv isor and established by CCCETake 1-2 students for long term clinical rot ation (Therapist of > 1yrexperience).Adjust supervisory techniques for i ndividual student's needs.Provide outreach and learning activities as re quested which may include:in-services on related topics, generating refe rrals, interacting withvolunteers orvisitors.Participate in data collec tion for research activities to enhanceclinical outcomes.Perform other r elated duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree or certification in physical therapy, with Master's orClinical Doctorate in physical therapy preferred.
Experience
None beyond required education, although more experience may be preferred at times.

Current Physical Therapist license in North Carolina
