Certified Coder II (Outpatient) - Clinical Documentation/Coding

SUMMARY: Assigns ICD-10-CM/PCS diagnosis and procedures codes, and CPT-4 procedure codes to outpatient surgery and other specialty procedural coding medical records for both facility and professional billing utilizing the 3M encoding software application. Applies modifiers as appropriate per the National Standards. Corrects coding and claim edits for both the facility and provider for outpatient surgery and other outpatient records. Abstracts clinical, financial and quality management information into the appropriate information management systems. Queries and communicates with physicians on documentation issues related to code assignment and provides feedback to physicians and the physician billing entity on variances between hospital and physician CPT coding. Monitors accounts receivable, abstract rejection, claims hold reports and other associated billing reports for both facility and professional billing.

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a high school diploma with a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS). Minimum two (2) years related experience is required. Minimum two (2) years ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT-4 coding experience with outpatient surgery medical records experience preferred.

POSITION DETAILS: Part time, 40 hours per pay period

PAY RANGE: $27.90 - $43.30
